Hi, this is AJ here, there have been no new posts on this blog for ages cus my beautiful sister Phoebe went without warning to Rainbow Bridge in the spring, we haven't been able to come on here to post as it upsets us so, but I thought I had better let you know what had happened.

I hope we all have a bteer time in 2008.

Party Pugs!!

Last Saturday Phoebe and AJ attended the Bullies In Need Christmas party, they had a lovely time. Phoebe hasn't been too well lately so she spent most of her time watching the activities, AJ however was in the thick of things, he had his own 'minder' for the day and a 3 year old boy to play with so he was in his element!
They both went in the fancy dress competition, Phoebe wore a sailor dress and AJ won 5th prize in his devil costume, very apt for the little lad!!

Introducing AJ

Well here at last is my baby brother AJ. After looking for a few weeks for a brother for me and being unsuccessful my mums decided they would have to get a younger boy. They wanted a more mature boy pug of around 3 or 4 years old, but there were none around at that time. They saw an ad for a little boy of almost 5 months old, his owner was having problems giving him the care he needed along with looking after her little girl. She wasn't in any hurry and wanted to find the right home as she knew that not everyone would be able to cope with his overactive behaviour, he was very much loved by his first family and they did find it difficult to part with him, but knew it was for the best. I am thrilled that they thought we were the right home for him. At the time his name was Archie, but as we already had an Archie we called him Archie Junior, AJ for short. I went with them to meet him so that I could be the one to decide whether he came home with us. In this first picture he was too small to get on the chair so I could get up here out of his way for a few minutes rest!
He is the most lovable rogue you could wish to meet, sometimes I do have to tell him off as he does get a bit much for me, but he is learning how much I will stand.
He is now 10 months old and very handsome!

We are very good friends, and on the odd occasion when he does have a nap we like to have a nap together!

AJ loves everyone and every dog. here he is playing with Mitchell a bull terrier puppy, he was in foster care with a friend for Bullies In Need and came to visit us,
AJ thought it was great to have a playmate who was as rough as him!! Of course, the next time he saw Mitchell, Mitchell was twice AJ's size, he still wanted to play with him though!!

It has been a long time since I wrote in this blog and an awful lot has happened, some good, some bad.
Sadly my boxer brother Sam became a victim of the awful illness Degenerative Myelopathy and he gradually lost the use of his back legs, when he started to become frustrated and depressed he was helped to Rainbow Bridge to save him from further anguish, my mums say it was the worse thing they have ever had to do and I missed him so much that I became depressed myself.
My mums knew that I needed a special friend so they looked around for another pug to join our family, they wanted to find one about 2 - 3 years old but then found out about a lovely little lad of 5 months looking for a good home, so AJ became my brother. Now I am used to living a sedate life but AJ has certainly changed things in that department!!
I will get some pictures of him on here as soon as I can, he is now 9 months old and is a lot bigger than me!

Sutton On Sea

Monday evening was again beautiful and off we went in the car, this time in the opposite direction, through Mablethorpe and then Sutton On Sea , until we got to the golf course. We parked in the car park and climbed the steps and there was the beach, and once again the tide was in. There were a few more people about this time and several had dogs which were off the lead and they came over to meet me, it can be a bit daunting when 2 labradors come bouncing over to a small dog, I do wish their owners would take that into consideration, they then wonder why the smaller dog yaps at them!! I am not allowed off my lead when any other dogs are around as I am not trained to come back when called and my mums don't think it is right for me to go and interfere with other dogs on leads and they are also worried I may get hurt, compared to most on the beach I am only small!! Anyway, enough of the chatter, I am sure it is the pictures you have come to see!

Donna Nook

Grandad visited yesterday, after lunch we went for a walk at the nature reserve at Donna Nook. This is such a strange place, it is owned by the Ministry of Defence but managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, it is still used as a bombing target range!! You can't go in there when the red flags are flying!
It is a very popular place for bird watchers, the reserve is rich in bird life. In summer breeding birds of the dunes include red-legged partridge, dunnock, whitethroat, linnet, skylark, yellowhammer and tree sparrow. The mudflats provide a winter home for substantial numbers of brent geese, shelduck, twite, lapland bunting, shore lark, large flocks of knot and dunlin and a wide variety of other wading birds. Donna Nook has one of the largest and most accessible breeding colonies of grey seals in the UK. Pretty knowlegable little pug aren't I?

Cardboard city!!

Harry's favourite 'toy' is a cardboard box, he loves to run around with it in his mouth and try to 'kill' it!! He usually ends up wearing himself out and then using the box as a bed!
I have just been looking through some pictures and came across this one. One day it started to rain when he was out playing, normally he barks to come in, this day he didn't, I looked out to see what he was doing and this is what I found! Where there's a will there's a way!!

Every morning when I get up the first thing I do after I have greeted my mums is to jump on the sofa to see Sam, I am always so pleased to see him and he is always pleased to see me too.

My evening walk at the beach

It was a lovely evening yesterday so I thought I would take the humans for a walk on the beach while the tide was in. There were a lot of fishermen there hoping to catch their supper so we had to keep to the concrete part at the top for a lot of the way so that we (I!) didn't get tangled in their lines , but I don't mind that as it is good for a manicure!

This is as far as I dare roam on my own, look how close the water is,
I have never seen it this far in before!

Here I am waiting for my mums to catch up, the poor old dears can't walk
too fast these days!!

Maisie and Archie

My bull terrier sister Maisie was diagnosed with dilated cardiomopathy a few weeks ago, she kept collapsing whenever she tried to run around. Since then she hasn't been allowed to play with the rest of us so that she doesn't over exert herself. She has now been on her new treatment for a while and today she seemed to be fed up of just being on her own for exercise, so with fingers crossed she was allowed to play with Archie under strict supervision. I am pleased to report that she had a wonderful time and despite running around with him didn't show any signs of collapsing!! We are all really pleased for her. You can see by the pictures just how happy she is.

Pugsley comes to visit

A week or so ago Pugsley and his family stayed in a caravan at Skegness for a few days, so they came to visit us for a day. we had a great time, it was good to see him again and to catch up on all the news!! We had a good run around the garden together and here are a few pictures for you to share;

Remember I said a few days ago about Naomi, Damon and Ashley wanting a pug of their own? Well they have now got one and here he is;

This handsome young chap is Pugsley and guess what? He is Dave's dad!! He couldn't be in a better home and is having the time of his life. Ashley is rightly very proud of his new baby 'brother'!

This picture was taken just before Christmas when we went to visit Auntie Naomi , Uncle Damon and cousin Ashley. They all took turns in cuddling me and this is Uncle Damon taking his turn. They all loved me and said they had always wanted a pug. They should be getting a pug of their own very soon. WATCH THIS SPACE!!

Toenail help needed

My nails are getting too long and I hate having them cut, I have never had them done before and now I panic, my mum has been advised to wrap me in a towel to hold me still and she has started to get me used to being wrapped in a towel by playing a game with me, she thinks I don't know what she is up to, but I am not stupid! Does anyone else know of anything that may help me to remain calm while having them done?

There we were, Sam and I, quietly sitting on the sofa watching TV, then Maisie decided to join us, of course we all had to sit at the same end which the hoomans thought was amusing and this is the resulting picture. We could easily get another 5 dogs on the sofa if we tried hard enough!

Of all the things that have happened in my life I have to say that seeing how my grandson Dave is growing up is the thing that I am proudest of. He is a lovely young lad and a credit to his breed and Auntie Dawn and Uncle John. Of course Beau and Molly have also had a hand in the way he has turned out!!
So here are a few pictures taken when he was baby, I am sure you will agree he is the cutest!!

Not just a couch potato!!

I persuaded mum Ann to take the camera in the field with us this morning so that you can see I am a sporty pug too. She would have you believe that I am lazy and just like to idle my time away watching TV with my feet up, eating and sleeping!! Well now you can see for yourselves this just isn't true.
In this first picture I am actually RUNNING!!

Here is Maisie, she has a different way of going round the field, she does it 'commando crawl' style - creeping along on her belly!!

And when she gets fed up of doing it that way she just rolls over and wriggles along on her back!

Every now and then she will stop for a rest.

I think she really wants to be a brindle bullie!

Now it's Archie's turn. Ever since he was a baby Archie has alwas picked up a frisbee to take with him when he goes for a walk. Even when he is just in the garden as in these pictures he usually has one in his mouth! In the first picture he is just getting it from his hiding place in the heather!

He then just keeps running round and round.

And up and down!

Until there is nowhere else left to go!

Things I like

I like doggie chocolate buttons, I have my very own supply and I know where they are kept. I can't get in to them though. If my mums go out somewhere they can't take me (which doesn't happen too often) I always get 3 buttons put in my bed, this keeps me happy while they go out of the door. I don't mind being left for a while and usually take the time to do something important, like have a nap!

I like my new bed, its is really comfortable and it has plenty of space for all of my belongings. I have never had my very own bed before, or my own toys and stuff.

I enjoy walking round my garden and chasing the birds, I do prefer it in the sunny weather though!

But best of all I like sitting on mum Michelles' knee!!

My family

Hi everyone, this is Phoebe, I have taken over writing this blog as mum Ann gets a bit too busy to keep it updated, so I did a crash computer course and here I am!!
I thought I would introduce you to the rest of my family.

Firstly this is Mum Michelle. She is the main reason I am here, she is poorly and needed a resposible pug to look after her, I fitted the bill pefectly and my grandson Dave who owns Auntie Dawn of Lincs Boxer rescue told her I would be perfect, so she made all the arrangements for my move. You can see by the picture that I am doing a great job and have put a big smile on Mum Michelle's face! Don't look at my bare belly, this picture was taken not long after I had had 'the op'!

Now this handsome chap is my eldest brother Archie, he is a boxer with a long tail which can be lethal if it wags and knocks you!! He is a good brother and looks out for us all.

This is my special brother Sam, I love him very much and spend most of my time with him when I am not sitting on my mums knee. He is a very gentle boxer boy.

This is my sister Maisie, she is a bull terrier, she isn't very well and has to take things easy, she has allergies which makes her skin red and itchy, but even worse she has an enlarged heart. I get on really well with her and often have a chat with her about 'girlie' things.

Now this is my baby brother, Harry, I have never met a dog like him, he is absolutely crazy!! I am not kidding!! He isn't allowed to play with me cus he is way too rough. I do get to kiss him through the fence though and he is gentle with me then, but my mums are worried that he will accidently hurt me if I played with him. He runs round the yard like a dog possessed, they call them 'bullie runs' and he doesn't go round things, he goes straight through them!! His head is really hard and he runs into the door with it and it doesn't hurt him!! He's a strange boy, but I still love him.

Lastly there is mum Ann, I don't have a picture of her though as it is usually her that holds the camera!!

My first visit to the beach

"Before I came to live here with my mums Michelle and Ann I hadn't been to many places, so I was eager to explore as much as I could. we live near the beach so it wasn't long before I had my first walk there. I was a bit worried by the large open space and even more so when a big wave chased me!! I knew I was in safe hands though and my mims wouldn't let anything hurt me "

There is nothing Phoebe likes better than to help me with the housework, from walking all over the floors when I have washed them making sure there are no marks left, to cleaning the furniture by licking it!! In this picture she is helping me to sort out the dirty laundry,

Then of course she has to make sure it doesn't escape by laying on it and having a nap!!
